ABOUT
Dance // Move // Shout // Play // ACTION
I am a dance/theatre maker, Movement director and community facilitator.
For the past 15 years I have been working within the worlds of dance/theatre and community organising, facilitation and movement building, working with theatre and dance companies and with organisations and communities locally, national and internationally.
Weaving my roles as a creative with that of social justice movement building, wether that’s co-organising the mass movement of folks mobilising 1000+ cyclists riding for an advocating for Palestine, working with organisers exploring movement tools for resilience or directing 100+ dancers in town squares and plaza’s, by work seeks to push for more equitable futures, and speak out against injustice.
I’m interested in the role art has in cultivating and creating space for resistance, resilience and joy. I have developed a practice that incorporates a variety of creative disciplines inclusive of using movement, play, sound, verbatim, creative writing, immersive & multi-sensory theatre making. Particularly seeking to make and participate in work for non-conventional performance spaces.
I am always keen to form new collaborative relationships and have a strong belief that dance, theatre & performance should reflect and represent a diverse range of voices, experiences and bodies, and that it be a mirror to current society . Currently my work extends into creating collaborative practices that explore structures of power and privilege, with a current focus on re-commoning and collectivism.
As a movement director and deviser I have collaborated on shows that have toured nationally and internationally inclusive of Bittersuite’s Debussy at Brooklyn Academy of Music, NYC, Luca Rutherford’s You Heard Me as part of Horizons Showcase, National Theatre Connections Show SAD CLUB at The Egg, Bath, Guleraana Mir’ ‘here, here, here’ for Young Company at Theatre Royal Stratford East and for CalRep, Long Beach LA, Dulwich College, South Korea on behalf of Frantic Assembly.
I am a creative audio describer for dance and theatre, and have co-authored Racial Equity Guidelines for Audio Describers in association with Holly Thomas and The South West Site Loss Council, advocating for racial equity within accessible practice.
I am a member of INTERVAL COLLECTIVE, an artist run collective space in Bristol based in a council building in the centre of town. This is a co-operatively run collective featuring some of my most favourite artists making politically informed, radical and action based theatre & art.
