ABOUT

Dance // Move // Shout // Play

I am a dance artist, theatre maker, Movement director and community facilitator.

I seek to make my work a form of activism, direct or indirect, by challenging and providing new ways of looking at the body, society and inter-personal relationships.

I’m interested in the role art has in cultivating and creating space for resistance, resilience and joy.

Originally coming from a dance background, I have developed a practice that incorporates a variety of creative disciplines inclusive of using movement, play, sound, verbatim, creative writing, immersive & multi-sensory theatre making. Particularly seeking to make and participate in work for non-conventional performance spaces.

I am always keen to form new collaborative relationships and have a strong belief that dance, theatre & performance should reflect and represent a diverse range of voices, experiences and bodies, and that it be a mirror to current society . Currently my work extends into creating collaborative practices that explore structures of power and privilege, with a current focus on ‘rest as a right’.

As a movement/dance facilitator I have facilitated for a number of organisations inclusive of Chisenhale Dance Space, People Dancing Network,Gather Up, VAULT Festival, CD60+ Haringay, Bristol Old Vic, The Lyric Hammersmith, and have held visiting lecture positions at Bristol University and Malvern College of Art, in devised theatre making and The Body In Motion modules.

I am a practitioner for Frantic Assembly, facilitating internationally in educational and professional settings, and work as a freelance movement director and choreographer for stage, film and community arts practices.

Much of my practice also integrates my experience of, and working and living with a chronic health condition, of which is considered an ‘invisible disability’. Access being a key part of my practice prior and post diagnosis, I have begun more recently to also reflect my intersecting identities as a queer, mixed race woman with an invisible disability within my practice as a maker.

I am a member of INTERVAL COLLECTIVE, an artist run collective space in Bristol based in a council building in the centre of town. This is a co-operatively run collective featuring some of my most favourite artists making politically informed, radical and action based theatre & art.
